A course for Foundation Stage practitioners
Problem solving is at the heart of childen’s play.
It makes sense to
situate the learning of mathematics within the context
of play,
where children will use thinking, reasoning and numeracy
as part
of their imaginative activity. This will nurture a positive
disposition
toward mathematical learning.
On this course you will:
- identify what problem solving
is and how to plan for it
- explore how to scaffold
and extend learning and development
- discuss a wide
range activities that will enable young children
to become successful problem solvers
- look at games
and stories that develop reasoning
- consider where
numeracy fits within everyday purposeful
activity and play
