A course for Early Years practitioners
and mathematics subject leaders
Children can learn outdoors as effectively as they learn
indoors, given
the right provision. We can provide many opportunities
for children to
develop mathematical understanding outside. A mathematically
enriched
environment in the outdoor area can encourage problem
solving, reasoning and numeracy.
On this course you will:
- consider the role of the
adult in supporting children’s mathematical
development
- explore a wide range of ideas for maths
experiences outside
- think about developing outdoor
role play scenarios which support
maths development
- have an opportunity to consider
your own outdoor provision and
plan for the future
