A course for Key Stage 2 teachers
and mathematics subject leaders
Assessment is a key element in the teaching and learning
cycle. It is
designed to enhance teaching and improve learning. Ongoing,
frequent
assessment gives teachers and children the opportunity
to reflect
on progress and devise next steps to further develop
mathematical
learning. The emphasis will be on what children can do
rather than
what they cannot do.
On this course you will:
- consider the types and
purposes of short-term, medium-term
and long-term assessments
- look at examples of effective
and manageable pupil
self-assessment, teacher evaluation, pupil feedback,
record keeping, target setting and reporting
- consider
practical suggestions for effective
assessment activities
