Exploring mathematical thinking skills at Key Stage 1

A two-day course for Key Stage 1 teachers and mathematics subject leaders

It is important to understand exactly what it means to think mathematically so that you can encourage children to develop their own mathematical thinking skills. We need to provide a range of appropriate strategies and activities to encourage children to think mathematically.

On this course you will:

  • explore a range of thinking skills and relate them to mathematics learning
  • look at recent research and the implications this has for good classroom practice
  • share resources for developing collaboration and dialogue in the classroom
  • consider the importance of effective questioning

London: Wed 30 Jan and Fri 7 Mar 2008 (LON26)
