Supporting mathematical learning in the Foundation Stage for Teaching Assistants

A course for Early Years Teaching Assistants

Many classroom assistants find themselves supporting children’s mathematical development. It is important that they have resources, ideas and ready-prepared activities for a wide variety of mathematical topics. They also must structure their help effectively to help draw out the mathematics from an activity.

On this course you will:

  • look at the mathematics that can be developed from stories, rhymes and songs
  • consider how mathematical activities can be developed from everyday materials such as bottles, buttons and belts
  • explore mathematical activities in relation to the classroom environment
  • consider how to create mathematical displays within the classroom

London: Fri 18 Jan 2008 (LON20)
