A course for Early Years Teaching
Assistants
Many classroom assistants find themselves supporting
children’s
mathematical development. It is important that they have
resources,
ideas and ready-prepared activities for a wide variety
of mathematical
topics. They also must structure their help effectively
to help draw out
the mathematics from an activity.
On this course you will:
- look at the mathematics that
can be developed from stories,
rhymes and songs
- consider how mathematical activities
can be developed from
everyday materials such as bottles, buttons and belts
- explore
mathematical activities in relation to the classroom
environment
- consider how to create mathematical
displays within the classroom
