Challenging more able children in mathematics at Key Stage 2

A course for Key Stage 2 teachers and mathematics subject leaders

The daily mathematics lesson often involves the whole class working together. However, many teachers are concerned about keeping the more able children challenged and meeting their specific needs. Particular strategies and activities are needed to broaden and deepen children’s mathematical understanding.

On this course you will:

  • focus on the identification, planning, teaching and assessing of more able children
  • look at ways of differentiating and extending pupil tasks
  • consider the importance of effective questioning
  • explore mathematical challenges, puzzles, investigations and games that can be used to meet the needs of more able children

London: Fri 18 Jan 2008 (LON19 - FULL)
