Objectives:

  • To explore how children’s natural curiosity about the world can be a springboard for mathematical learning
  • To explore how to provide a mathematically-rich environment where children can develop secure mathematical foundations

By the end of the course, delegates will be familiar with:

  • Activities, contexts and resources which help to create an environment full of mathematical learning opportunities
  • Ways of broadening children’s counting skills
  • How to move children on from counting to early calculating
  • How to create opportunities that develop children’s problem-solving skills
