A course for Key Stage 1 teachers
and mathematics subject leaders
Assessment is a vital part of learning and teaching.
Ongoing assessment
is an important tool for measuring how children’s
skills, knowledge and
understanding are progressing. Assessment gives teachers
and children
the opportunity to reflect on, and further develop, mathematical
learning. The emphasis will be on what children can do
rather than
what they cannot do.
On this course you will:
- have an opportunity to
discuss a range of assessment methods
- look at ongoing
formative assessment, including children’s
self-assessment
- explore ways of finding out what
children are able to do
and understand
- consider appropriate activities and
resources to support assessment
- be given time to
develop ideas for use in your own classroom
