A course for Key Stage 2 teachers
and mathematics subject leaders
Simply acquiring facts does not constitute successful
learning. What children know is closely linked with how
they came to know it – which in turn depends on
the nature of activities they have participated in. By
encouraging creative approaches we can nurture and stimulate
children’s mathematical learning.
On this course you will:
- consider what it means to
be creative in mathematics
- explore creative strategies
for teaching key concepts such as place value and
fractions
- explore the creative use of equipment
- identify
inclusive strategies that provide challenge and motivation
