working at Key Stage 2
Your own experience of learning mathematics at school
may be different from children today. This course will
enable you to approach your
support work in a more confident way by exploring the
best practice
for the learning and teaching of mathematics.
On this course you will:
- reflect on your role as
a teaching assistant in the daily
mathematics lesson
- examine the teaching of mental
and written methods of calculation
- consider the
use of some resources for teaching mathematics
- try
different types of activities which promote children’s
mathematical understanding
