Managing differentiation within the daily mathematics lesson at Key Stage 2

A course for Key Stage 2 teachers and mathematics subject leaders

It is important to involve children of all abilities in mathematics lessons. Sometimes, it can be challenging to engage in mathematical learning with a wide range of abilities in the classroom. Appropriate strategies and resources will promote children’s enjoyment and engagement in mathematics.

On this course you will:

  • discuss the importance of using equipment to support children’s mathematical thinking
  • look at the role of appropriate questioning
  • explore a range of strategies to engage children of all abilities
  • look at how to include all children in problem-solving activities
  • look at the effective use of groupings and of other adults
